Gina Wingfield

private cello lessons and StringBabies

Gina Wingfield is originally from New Albany, Indiana, and has been teaching cello for 43 years in the Kentucky and Indiana area. She graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Indiana University was the perfect fit, as all of her private teachers from middle school through high school were graduate assistants of Janos Starker. While at IU her primary instructor was Helga Winold, but she also worked with Fritz Magg and Mr. Starker. She has taught orchestra in public schools in Marion, IN, New Albany, IN, and Bardstown, KY. She also led a satellite program of the Louisville Youth Orchestra and taught strings to children from first to fifth grade. While with the Louisville Youth Orchestra, she conducted the Concert Orchestra for students in fourth through seventh grades, and started the Serenade Orchestra for younger students. Most recently, Mrs. Wingfield developed a cello program at the Chance School in Louisville, Kentucky, where she taught for three years. Her private cello studio had students ranging from age 10 to adult. Mrs. Wingfield is a former member of the Louisville Orchestra.

Mrs. Wingfield moved to the Temecula Valley with her husband to be with their daughter, son-in-law, and new granddaughter. She loves the California weather and is looking forward to trail riding with her horse, Tumbleweed, and getting involved with local greyhound groups with her two rescued greyhounds.

Mrs. Wingfield is also teaching Music for Toddlers & Family Music for Babies.
